An underdog can lose the game but win the bet for the wagerer while a favorite can win the game but lose in the bet.

Money line

Another option of NHL betting is the money line bet. This bet is a wager on a matchups between two teams. To wager on the favorite the bettor must wager more to win. This wager is similar to a goal spread but it uses a money line instead of a point spread.

Canadian Line

A combination of a puck line and moneyline is called a Canadian Line bet. Usually the Canadian Line bet is based on a twenty dollar difference in the payoff for the favorite and the underdog. If a team is favored heavily then the gap will widen between the two teams.

Total

Another bet is the Total bet. This type of wager is a bet on whether the combined number of goals scored by the two teams in a game will be under or over the amount set by the sportsbook. For example is the combined score set by the sportsbook for both teams is 5 then bettors will place a wager on whether or not the total score will be over or under the number 5.

Parlay

A parlay bet is a wager on two or more teams in the NHL. Players bet their original stake and the winnings are re-invested on the next game. all selections must be correct. If you have one loss than your parlay bet is a loss. If a goal spread tie takes place or the game is postponed or canceled then the parlay will be reduced to the next lower number.

Futures/Props

A future bet is a bet that is placed on an NHL event or outcome of a game that is set to take place in the future. For example you may place a bet on a division win before the season starts. A prop bet is an unusual bet such as which team will score first or which player will score the most goals.
