UFC 117 Main Event: Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
The Main Event of UFC 117 will have every MMA fan on the edge of their seats Saturday night as Anderson Silva (26-4-0) is preparing to take on Chael Sonnen (26-10-1). Silva’s Middleweight Championship belt is on the line.
Many of you may remember Silva’s highly criticized bout with Demian Maia at UFC 112 where Anderson spent the first 5 rounds avoiding contact with his opponent, choosing to merely taunting Maia throughout the match. He won, but was greatly criticized, for which he later apologized and vowed never to fight in such a manner again.
Chael Sonnen defeated Nate Marquadt at UFC 109 to get himself on the roster for UFC 117’s title fight. In anticipation of his impending shot at glory, Sonnen commented “I want 12 pounds of gold around my waist”.

Some great PPV’s coming up this month for the UFC. Not sure how smart Sonnen is being talking so much crap about Anderson, but he’s definitely got my interest. I’d like to see Silva get smashed for the way he has acted recently, just not by Chael.
I give Chael credit. Him and Dan Henderson gave Silva his toughest fights in the UFC. It is going to be a wrestler that beats Silva eventually. His takedown defense is not that good. He is great off his back though.
Chael Sonnen did a good job with Anderson Silva at UFC 117, even though he was caught by a triangle armbar in the last round. Looking forward of seeing a rematch. Clay Guida also did a good job. Really like Guidas fights, he is quite aggressive.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has truly revolutionized the way the mixed martial arts are viewed by average fans. Just a few years ago, the UFC was in disarray and in huge debt. But the new management has taken the company to a whole new level by putting up blockbuster events month after month. The past few months have been the most exciting times for the fans, and the excitement will continue with UFC 97: Silva – Leites.
I am all pumped for ufc 119. It will be an incredible showing.
